Re: bsm and trainee licence?

If you are going with them to get experience and practice ok. If you think you are going to make money no. If you use it for the first reason you will be ok. Ev

Re: bsm and trainee licence?

but surely if you go with them full time evan you will need to make some money to live so say you need to pay your f/fee £350 plus fuel £75 plus at least a liveable wage of £200 a week thats £625 needed which is twenty five hours work a week surely that is achievable

Re: bsm and trainee licence?

Depends where you are PDI people in the local BSM Instructors are struggling to get 30 hours. They also put most trainees on part time to start with and that works out at about £5 per hour. What is promised and what is achievable don't always go hand in hand. I would certainly be careful about giving up a full time job to go full time with them.  Remember if their is a hardcore of long serving ADI's in your local office, then they won't take kindly to having their hours cut to supply a trainee. If your local branch is very busy and getting loads of enquiries through the door, then happy days, go for it. Just make sure you do your homework, before you join. Remember once you sign that franchise agreement you are there for 6 months with a full diary or without, they are also at liberty to take you to court if you finish early. Ev

Re: bsm and trainee licence?

I am on a part time franchise with BSM. Doing 18 hours of lessons a week which equates to about 30 hours when you add in travelling to and from lessons, paperwork etc.

I get approx £6.25 an hour gross. Take off expenses, tax etc. and I am lucky to get £4 an hour. I gave up my full time job to do this. Luckily we have some savings and my wife's job is well paid. Otherwise I would have to have thought of plan B!

As has been said many times before, while you are on a pink you should be learning not earning.  smile

I am enjoying it though!!!

Re: bsm and trainee licence?

And just to add it's a pay as you go agreement. I only pay franchise fee when they supply work.

It's in their interest to get the car I have got earning! My BSM centre is mega busy!

Re: bsm and trainee licence?

Karl,

Might be worth speaking with BSM re their part time package.

I understand they do one where you pay them nothing. They pay you so much per hour. You have to guarantee them 15/16 hours a week.

Seems like a good solution for training for pt 3, certainly no financial outlay worries.

Be interested to hear if this is correct and if it works.

Re: bsm and trainee licence?

It doesnt seem a bad package for Pdis in all honesty. I do not think you are tied to a 6 month contract, WOOF can confirm that bit. Plenty of time to yourself to study hopefully. Just enough hours to gain experience and nothing more. All paperwork sorted and phonecalls answered. Its not a bad set up for a Pdi i dont think. Also gets your name around to for if you eventually want to go it alone when you've got your green badge.

Re: bsm and trainee licence?

I dont know which option, but i was told by a pdi cannot remember who that they didnt sign a contract. Some sort of pay as you go with Bsm. Interesting to find out which package this is that you dont sign one. I thought you would have to sign a contract maybe someone will pop out of the woodwork to say they didnt sign one.

Good to hear you're enjoying it WOOF. Looking forward to part 3?

Re: bsm and trainee licence?

No Pdi hes on the part time franchise doing 18 hours not the full time one. Its 22 here not 25. Your first 15 hours get paid to Bsm on the full time franchise.

Dearest car hire firm I ever worked for. With what I paid for a Corsa, I could have bought a Mercedes Benz for.

locals ADI's term for BSM is simply Bring Some Money. Ev

Trouble is Hayley, I am working miles out of my area. I am not sure it will be economical to keep on the pupils. Still, rather than not working I suppose I can keep them on a certain day of the week while taking on pupils in my own area.  smile
