controls lesson

if on my part three the subject is controls should i go straight into that or do the cockpit drill first since they might need to adjust the seat to reach the pedals to get the feel of them

Re: controls lesson

To my mind the "cockpit drill" is the first part of the controls lesson. As you rightly say they need to be able to reach the pedals etc!

Re: controls lesson

What would you do on a real control lesson with a real pupil? Answer that and you've answered your own question  smile

Re: controls lesson

If you look at the PST marking sheet, some of the things your being marked on are the cockpit drill - the 1st ones are doors, seat/head restraint, seat belt, mirrors.  If you look at the ones further down the sheet they include the pedals.... which the pupil/examiner wont be able to reach if you haven't got them to adjust their seat properly first.

Re: controls lesson

With the controls lesson, you would normaly pick them up at the house, ( new pupil ), so the first thing you would cover when you arrive at the location would be how to take the seat belt off correctly, then where they would check and why before opening the door and where to meet and why. Ten you would see them into the driver seat and get in on the passengers side and start the lesson, remember they are a new pupil.  tongue Hope that helps.

Re: controls lesson

Listen to what the "pupil" tells you at the bginning. If they don't mention cockpit drill then ask them if they've done it before and find out what they can remember. Don't teach what they already know!
