Why choose ORDIT - Part two

There are two sides to the ORDIT argument.

It is a voluntary register and there are excellent individual trainers about who are not ORDIT registered.

You should go more by recommendation and personal assessment than a blanket ORDIT register entry.

If they give ADI training they should have the courage of their convictions and pass the ORDIT test. There must be a benchmark for ADI training, ORDIT may not be perfect but at least it is a guide to prospective instructors that the organisation has at least some idea about ADI training. With 25,000 part one tests sat and only 4,000 people finally qualifying the whole ADI training industry is a shambles.

Re: Why choose ORDIT - Part two

Like I said there are two sides to the argument.

Your point about the ADI training being a shambles proves that perhaps ORDIT is not that significant.

ORDIT doesnt seem to stop the larger companies from stuffing three trainees into a car for their lessons.

The point also about 18000 people sitting for Part 1 and only around 3000 passing Part 3, proves that anyone can take the first two parts of the ADI exams and they are relatively easy.

Part 3 is much more difficult and is perhaps the filter that only lets through those who have an aptitude for the profession.

Many people think that being an ADI is a doddle and I think that training organisations are at fault here with misleading advertisements and a failure to be honest with people.

You are quite right ORDIT is not significant, that is the problem, under ORDIT rules there is a max 2 to 1 ratio for part 3 training. The companies that stuff 3 in a car are not ORDIT registered.
Part 1 is not difficult the DSA even supply all the questions!! A lot of people pass it without even picking up a highway code or any other text book.
Part 2 is a stiff test, but a good ADI can train it.
Many excellent PDI's are lost to the profession each year by poor part 3 training, speaking as somebody who is regularly repairing the damage done by bad training many more could pass if they were trained correctly, obviously not everybody is capable even with the best training.
