Work to rule.

Has anybody been affected by the examiners working to rule?

And if so how did it affect you?

Re: Work to rule.

Hi all
Yesterday I had a pupil with a 2.30 test .We got to the test centre to be told there was an examener off sick and then told you'll get a new test date free of charge then given a expenses claim form. But no apology from the examener. sad

Always look on the bright side of life.

Re: Work to rule.

Ten ADIs in Bolton today blocked the examiners car park, preventing them from leaving at home time,  in protest at the way the examiners have been cancelling tests.

The protest lasted 30 mins before the entrance was unblocked.

Here are a few examples of what has happened  during the work to rule:

A pupil who had opened the car bonnet struggled to shut it properly, so he ran back to the waiting room 30 yds away, and returned with the instructor, who shut the bonnet.  The examiner then said he had cancelled the test because there was no time to go out.

Three pupils turned up for the 9.37 test but had to queue to get into the car park, behind the earler returning tests, because they  were late back.   As they made their way to the waiting room the S.E. came out and told all three that their tests were cancelled because they were 2 minutes late.  The three have since been told by DSA that they won't get another free test.

A pupil who had a test cancelled due to bad weather has been waiting 4 weeks of a new date.  The instructor phoned DSA to find out why the delay, to be told that Bolton TC had not sent details back, so they couldn't rebook.
The ADI contacted the S.E.  who said he had sent the details off,   but when asked if he would phone the booking section he refused and said it was nothing to do with him.
It has taken the pupil four hours on the phone to finally get a test.

A pupil was told in the waiting room  on a 1.33 test that his test had been cancelled because the examiner was ill.
Normal procedure when an examiner is off is for the TC to phone the pupil in the morning to revent a wasted journey.   As he left the instructor noticed an examiner sat in the test centre.  This examiner conducted the following test.

Re: Work to rule.

It was only a few troublesome ADIs in the Bolton area who childishly took part in this pathetic little stunt.
They are a minority who have massive chips on their shoulders, and have been bringing the professional ADIs in the area into disrepute with their behaviour for a long time.
The professionals want nothing to do with them.
They are glory seekers.
They are trying to organise a Union for ADIs, which is even more pathetic.
Parents and pups in the area ridicule them.
At garage meetings they hijack the proceedings to suit their own agenda, although what that is no one quite knows.

PROFESSIONAL ADIs AROUND HERE ARE DISASSOCIATING THEMSELVES FROM THIS BUNCH AND ARE GETTING ON WITH THEIR JOB.

Re: Work to rule.

Hi Boltonadi,

Are you happy with the way DSA treat us? Should anything be done?

Regards,

Re: Work to rule.

The Bolton association has over 100 members.

Some minority.

And neither do we hide behind a nickname when we criticise.

For the record, the association has today been in negotiation with DSA regarding the cancelled tests detailed above,  and DSA has now agreed to refund all the test fees of those who had tests cancelled for dubious reasons listed above.  Furthermore they will all receive compensation.

None of these three are actually members of the association,  yet  have been helped  by their colleagues when their own efforts to get justice failed.

Note the word negotiation Bolton ADI
