Hello from Michael in Croydon

I am only 44 years of age, and live in Croydon, South London. I'm a grade 6 driving instructor and specialise in Instructor training. I started to teach learner drivers over 22 years ago in 1984. A lot has changed in that time, most of it for the good, although it does mean that the students of today need to be a lot better prepared than when I passed my test in 1978.

Hi Micheal,

Welcome to the forum, your only down the road from me as I live by Mitcham Common. Been reading your website about giving free instructor training and the post you put up about your mission to get rid the rip off instructor training companies, so how does that work, do trainees have to sign a contract to stay a certain amount of time when they quialify as we all know nothing is for free in this life. Hope you succeed in your mission.

Hi Micheal

Welcome to the forum, I'm looking forward to hearing your points of view and advise

Just thinking back, it was an experience when we took our ADI test, Ppart 1 was written (you had to write out the answers) and the Part 2 & Part 3 tests where one two hour test that included doing arm signals, the good old days ! ! !

Hi Luchell and shrek thank you for your welcome

Hi Sipin.
Do you remember your old ADI number?
My one was 53335 and then the DOT wrote to us and issued a new number which they called a personal reference number, they also said that it did not effect our old ADI number and that we will have both.
But over the years only the PRN is used and now they call this the ADI  No

Hi PJ
The evening classes are free for the moment, I plan to make a small charge later of say £5 - £10 per evening session, about 2-3 hour.
No contracts. You can train for free and walk away and start you own school, if you wish,
But the truth is that anybody intelligent enough to pass all three exams will know that in your first years you will need some help. It’s a sad fact that most of the few people who pass with a collage type company do not survive for long. So I will invite then to join us if they wish, for a small franchise fee of say two lessons per week and one lesson for each new pupil. I think that’s fare don’t you?
Hope to meet you someday
