Petrol cap on vectra

Can anyone help me!?

The petrol cap (well the flap before you get to the cap) is stuck fast, its like its permanently locked.  The central locking on the doors and boot etc are working fine.

Any one had similar problem or any ideas how to fix it?

Re: Petrol cap on vectra

without sounding rude and insulting you Leanne is this a new car you have?

does it normally release with the central locking, maybe two or three presses of the button.

is there a release lever inside the car somewhere (maybe down the side of the seat).

is it a push realease flap.....push it in to open it.

Re: Petrol cap on vectra

Ive had the car 18months, but with no handbook...
Unlocking the car normally has always opened it in the past.

Re: Petrol cap on vectra

Make sure you have pressed the unlock twice.  If the boot and the  passenger doors have unlocked then the petrol cap release is faulty.

Press the lock and unlock buttons alternately (twice for each each time) and at the same time tap the flap gently, it may ease the locking pin.

The key sends a signal to the central locking system and it may be that the second press is not being received. You may need to try different positions.  Also try holding the key against your body as you press the buttons (the body acts as a signal amplifier)

It is possible that someone has tried to force the flap open and jammed the locking pin

Otherwise call the dealer and ask his advice.

Re: Petrol cap on vectra

try gently pressing and releasing on the little door as you lock and unlock the car, sometimes its just enough to release it.

You will need to get it checked as it sounds like faulty mechanism.

I have had a few Vectras as company cars and had this a couple of times.
