Anyone looking for earlier theory test appointments?

(By not naming the business - I hope this post does not fall under the self-promotion rules. Apologies if it does.)

Hi DTT users,

We're looking for a few beta testers for our new platform that offers the full suite of theory and practice test cancellation services. At this stage, we're looking for theory test cancellation beta testers.

Why would you want to use a service like this?

- Get yourself to prepare sooner, and get it out of the way, with an earlier test
- Decide when you're ready - you can always move the test if you're not
- Pick exactly the slot you want, such as the most in-demand slots on the weekends

We're looking for a few users who've already booked their theory test far in the future and have an idea of when they really want to have their test booked for. Because we're only rescheduling your existing test, we don't take any payment details from you, so no risk.

All we want to know is:

- What type of test you're looking for
- What dates are you looking for - e.g. 2nd October to 16th October
- What days if the week you're available - e.g. Monday to Friday
- What times of the day you're available - e.g. 11am - 5pm
- Any special requirements - e.g. unavailable on the 11th October

If you're interested, please reply to this thread with the details above, and we'll reach out in the next few days.

Re: Anyone looking for earlier theory test appointments?

There are already lots of practical test cancellation checkers around, and the more that come online the less effective they become because they are competing for the same rare cancellations.

And theory test waiting times are only a couple of weeks in most areas so there wouldn't be any demand.

Also,  its better for pupils to book the theory themselves so they can pick their own time/day to suit, rather than have someone else choose it, and have to pay extra.

Thanks for your feedback.

More competition means more choice, more features (e.g. we'll call you if you want, which moves beyond the tradition SMS-only services) and lower prices. It'll also increase the chance that every test center runs at 100% of advertised capacity - offering opportunities to candidates who are too busy to repeatedly check the website themselves.

There are also lots of areas (such a London) where this would prove very useful, which we've seen first hand.

They can still choose their day and time, as mentioned above. We also don't have any immediate plans to charge anyone for the theory test cancellation services (only if they want premium upgrades such as calls or texts, because they cost us money).
