Pay as you drive motor insurance

Daily Mirror  Thu, August 19

CHEAPER car insurance may be on the way with pay-as-you-drive cover.

A little black box fitted with a satellite tracking system will log journey times and provide drivers with itemised monthly bills.

It could mean cut-price bills for people who only use their car occasionally, but extra costs for those driving long distances along busy routes.

Insurers Norwich Union aim to introduce the hi-tech cover within two years if a pilot scheme is successful.

A spokesman said: "Premiums will be calculated on how often, where and when people drive their cars."
