Hi every body,
How many of you learner drivers and your friends know that the driving test is going to change this October?
It seems to me that the DSA are keeping it very quiet that from October there will be an element of independent driving during the new test, with the driver having follow road signs to a specific location.
It will be interesting to see how many of you are aware of this change!!

I have known about this change since the 27th January, so I presume most others will have as well.

Again known about it since the DSA announced it. This is why these forums are so god at keeping us informed.

I personally don't see it as a problem, I don't put candidates in for a test until they are independant. So I'll just do want I'm already doing.

I've known about it since it was announced by DSA but still don't quite understand exactly what the candidates will be asked to do and how it will work! Will the DE ask them to follow the road signs to a specific place/area or perhaps ask if they know the way back to the TC? What will happen if the candidate said "no I don't"? It could put further pressure on what is already a very limited time scale?

Have you been abroad for the last 18 months?
In addition to all the forums, it's been announced in Despatch, which every ADI gets.

I think Brad Pitstop is aiming this question at LEARNER DRIVERS, are THEY aware of this change?
Most learners do not keep up with developments as the driver training industry, so give Brad a break, eh?

Perhaps some LEARNERS could respond to this thread  as to how THEY found out about these changes as opposed to driver training professionals?

Perhaps a little post detailing the changes wouldn't go a miss in the learners section. smiley

Do the learners need to know of the changes...............?
Or do they just turn up for their test having been taught to drive properly?

There are a lot of ADIs out there who have never heard of CPD let alone the forthcoming changes to the driving test.
How would a learner know they are being taught properly?
You cannot assume that the instructor is teaching in a manner that factors in the proposed changes.
